I explored the websites that enable you to record session and the one that I found to be most friendly user was google hangouts. I tried it and it seemed very easy. You have many options such as showing live what you are doing at your desktop full screen or just a few windows at a time. It also has the option of inviting people to listen to the broadcast. I would definitely use this option for recorded sessions.
In an online learning environment there has to be delivery methods that are effective, easy to use for all parties and have the necessary tools needed for delivery of material and interaction. The one that I liked the most was Blackboard Collaborate because it incorporates everything that is needed for delivery of material. It has the podcast option, video, interaction with the students and collaboration. It seems very complex but it’s easy to use. Another one that interest me is the google hangouts, it has a very similar platform to social network so it shouldn’t be hard to understand or use. These two are the only ones that I found to be easy for me to use.

The learning management system is a system that teachers can use to monitor the student’s progress. It could be an interactive website which the teachers can use to deliver the material they are teaching and also to create material which they can use for teaching. Students can also use this system for interaction, conferencing and posting of messages.
The course management system is the main website in which teachers can post the course information such as syllabus, materials needed, handouts that are needed for the course, an online grade book and a communication tool. Students can also utilize this website to post their work and communicate with other members of their class or the online community within that course in case ideas or feedback necessary.
These two systems have similarities such as posting information, interacting with the other members of the class and with the teacher and materials needed for the course. They are very advantageous for the teachers and students because both parties can use it equally and get almost the same result which is obtaining the information needed for the course and interacting in case clarification is needed.
Synchronous and Asynchronous delivery methods.
Asynchronous delivery method could be define as the virtual traditional classroom in which deadlines are set and timeframes are given for the students to complete. The delivery method can be via email, blog, virtual bulletin boards, embed calendars into a teaching platform, online textbooks, links to videos and SMS texting. There are advantages to asynchronous delivery method in which the students have the flexibility to work within the timeframe and make corrections as needed and bring it into perspective before returning it completed. There is however a drawback to this type of delivery method, it lacks a sense of immediacy because you have to wait hours and sometimes days before receiving a response even if there is a timeframe. Also there is less interaction and the information once received could be a bit outdated.
Synchronous delivery method refer to as real time takes place like a conversation through skype, chat, texting, and video and phone conferencing. All of the students including the teacher get online and chat in a chatroom or similar platform and exchange ideas and insight into the conversation. The advantage to this delivery method is the sense of immediacy and fast response. It resembles a more face to face conversation and it’s more natural. The drawback to this however is that not everyone uses it and it’s not as flexible as asynchronous because everyone has to get online and stay for the specified time.

To ensure the balance between technology and your well being the main facts is to create a balance between technology usage and the your everyday life that does not involve technology for example, create a calendar and plan activities that do not involve technology, find extracurricular activities outside and away from technology, keep a log of hours, have set times for computer usage, strengthened your support network, exercise your body.
- What can students and teachers do to make sure they get the most from technology while simultaneously safeguarding good health? Educators can maintain a calendar of computer usage for the whole class or individually, model the behavior themselves to the students such as unplugged day in which everyone unplugs including the teacher, finding alternative activities that does not involve technology at all, set goals and rewards, set clear rules and regulations for internet usage, set a routine and hold everyone accountable for their own actions with clear consequences.
- What is the most important step we can take in terms of ensuring our digital safety?
The most important step that we can take as educators is to model and teach the students how to ensure safety for online usage and to teach the students the responsibilities as digital citizens. As educators we need to ensure that students are fully aware of the rights and responsibilities of digital citizens and we also need to ensure that they are following them and applying them.
- What strategies can we take to help our students consistently keep digital safety in the forefront of their minds?
The best strategy is to practice each day as necessary, remind the students as necessary and repetition of the responsibilities as necessary. Each day educators can model digital safety until the students can grasp the concept of online safety.
